Start this New Year with a haircut that’s elegant, chic, and oh-so-in-vogue! You got it, we are talking about the SHAG! Yes, this ‘70s iconic hairstyle made famous by the likes of Farrah Fawcett, Joan Jett, and Jennifer Anniston, as well as their male counterparts like Ashton Kutcher, and Justin Bieber amongst others, is becoming the rage again this season for all the right reasons. This look suits all face shapes and hair lengths. Moreover, it’s unisex and an easy style to maintain. Also, this layered style can add volume to your hair to give you a more youthful and trendier look.

Our professional hairstylists have just completed a hands-on ‘Hand cutting class with educator Shawn Brezanin!’ Their scissors are sharpened, and their creativity is waiting to be explored!  Here are a few from over 33 shag hairstyles that they recommend you try this season.

Cropped Pixie Shag – Do you want to go short and bold? Then the Cropped Pixie Shag might just be the right look for you. Created by keeping your hair short on the sides and longer on top, complete this look by styling it with a good pomade or styling balm.

Short Pixie Shag – If you want to go even shorter, then the Short Pixie Shag is what we recommend. This hairstyle is perfect for showing off your adventurous side and is created by cutting choppy layers from the front to the back. It adds layers and texture to thin hair giving it just the right amount of volume.

Shaggy Mullet – Extremely bold and prim, the mullet has been an absolute favorite since the 80s. It is created by keeping hair short on the front and sides while the hair on the back is longer to cover the neck.

Shullet Lob Shag  – The Shullet Lob is the perfect answer for those with in-between hair lengths that are too short for most hairstyles but too long for a bob. A cross between the mullet and a shag, this is a choppier look that adds more texture and layers to your hair than the average shag.

Long Curly Shag  – Give your beautiful long, curly tresses more definition that’s easier to maintain and still appealing to the eyes with the Long Soft Curly Shag. Add some good professional hair products and show off your soft curls to the world.

Keep it long, short, or medium length. Add a soft fringe, curtain bangs, or don’t! Whether you have wavy, straight or curly hair, there is a shag look that’s waiting for you to own. Now with so many things going in its favor, we’re sure you will contact your favorite hairstylist to create this newer and sharper shag hairstyle for you this New Year.
